Transform your Mudroom into a Markets Human Design Environment
The mudroom is a space in the back of the home, usually near the garage or rear entrance. We often find the home laundry set up in this space.
Where your entrance acts like the front palace to your home, energetically influencing the flow of chi that enters your dwelling, the back entrance or mudroom acts like the sitting palace of your home.
Any space in your home can be designed to set up to suit your Environment Variable in Human Design — even the mudroom.
You may even notice that you sometimes enter spaces that you just love; what is it you like about them? Have you ever walked into a gorgeous laundry room, pristine bathroom, or luxe cooking space that you adored? What parts made you feel good?
Building your Environment spatial awareness can happen in every room of the home. Let’s look at a few things to watch for or play with in your mudroom:
Invest in a good washing system
A Markets Person typically has strong cleaning rituals as part of their health and wellness, as they’re the most sensitive to stale energy out of all the Environments. Whether it’s always doing laundry weekly, or cleaning clothing and linens with special soaps designed for their favourite fabrics — if you’re going to invest in one area in your mudroom, consider splurging on your washer and dryer or washing system.
Have space for a drying area
Whether you lay some clothes out to dry on your counters, have a built-in rod to hang clothes, or even if you unfold a drying rack to hang your delicate garments on, I’ve never met a Markets Person who didn’t have at least ONE piece of clothing that required special cleaning. For those garments that you can’t dry or need to lie flat, ensure you have enough space in your mudroom to accommodate your fashion.
Organize your cupboards & drawers
The mudroom is a space that holds all kinds of things, whether it’s your laundry detergent and cleaning materials, off-season jackets and footwear, spare games, or those seasonal tools you don’t know where to put. Ensuring this space stays organized will help keep the energy in this space fresh for you. Organization systems that you can customize based on the space available to you, including drawer inserts, catch-all baskets, or something else, is helpful to a Markets Person’s flow in this space.
Bring in a bouquet or candles
Bring in a little personality into your mudroom through tools and items that are temporary, like fresh flowers or a seasonally-scented candle. Flowers bloom and wilt and need to be changed out, and candles burn until there is no wick left. Using items like these in your space will encourage you to remove the dead or used materials, and clean the area to keep things fresh for you.
Bring in your fave colour
Whether you’re having a blue moment, want to try a new colour you’ve been eyeing, or have always been a pink gal, infuse your mudroom with your favourite colour to prevent this space from being an overlooked site in your home. Whether you try a colourful tile backsplash, paint the walls, or bring in a pop of colour on the insides of your cupboards, get creative with bringing in your favourite colourful elements.
Seasonal decor storage
This is a great place to store your off-season items, like blankets, outdoor toys, or even things for the seasonal holidays you celebrate with your family, like Christmas trees, Halloween decorations, spring wreaths, etc.
