Transform your Mudroom into a Kitchens Human Design Environment

The mudroom is a space in the back of the home, usually near the garage or rear entrance. We often find the home laundry set up in this space.

Where your entrance acts like the front palace to your home, energetically influencing the flow of chi that enters your dwelling, the back entrance or mudroom acts like the sitting palace of your home.

Any space in your home can be designed to set up to suit your Environment Variable in Human Design — even the mudroom.

You may even notice that you sometimes enter spaces that you just love; what is it you like about them? Have you ever walked into a gorgeous laundry room, pristine bathroom, or luxe cooking space that you adored? What parts made you feel good?

Building your Environment spatial awareness can happen in every room of the home. Let’s look at a few things to watch for or play with in your mudroom:

Mudroom sink

A small utility sink for washing hands or cleaning muddy items is a game-changer for the Kitchens Person who can sometimes be drawn to the messiness of life. Coming in through the back door can sometimes come with muddy boots, wet outdoor gear, or even be the place where dirty pets get clean!

Pet Station

Speaking of pets, a built-in area for pet supplies, including food storage and a wash station for your furry friend, is a great addition to the mudroom in your home.

Tiled Floor

Tiled floors and backsplashes make for an easy-to-clean wet room that can have spills, drying laundry, wet pets and more. Since this space can get used and dirty, ensuring you use materials that make clean-up a breeze will go along way.

Colourful Accents

Bright paint or wallpaper can create a cheerful atmosphere. A little pop of colour is the perfect addition to any space for a Kitchens Person! Whether you are Kitchens Wet or Dry, there is a stimulation needed in your Environment. Playing with colour is a great way to bring in a bold, stimulating element. Whether you paint your walls or cabinets, experiment with removable wallpaper, try a coloured tile, or even try colour appliances, don’t shy away from getting creative in this room.

Cubbies

Depending on the size of your family, giving everyone their own custom cubbie through built-in individual compartments creates designated spaces to store shoes, backpacks, and other items. Creative organization will go a long way in preventing the potential messy chaos from taking over the entire space.

Get crafty

How can you DIY something in the mudroom so you’ve imbued your energy into the space while also getting in touch with your creative side? Whether you make an art piece for the wall or spray paint individual hooks for family members to claim for their things, experiment with getting crafty in this space to flex your DIY skills!
