Create a Valleys Bedroom

Hey, Human Design lover! Something to keep in mind: just because you’re a Valleys Person doesn’t mean these suggestions will necessarily work for you.

You have a unique situation! These tips are meant to inspire thought, and get you thinking differently about your sleep space. Trust what you’re drawn to trying, and steer clear from what doesn’t resonate. Have fun!

Create space to unplug

Consider practicing no phones in the bedroom or having “no phone zones” as part of your wind down or start up rituals. At the same time, it’s important to ensure all your necessary devices are being charged, but consider if that needs to be in proximity to you when you sleep. Is it necessary to have your phone by your bed or not?

Create a mood

Tone everything down in the bedroom. How can you lower the energy in this space? What kind of colour on the walls will create the right mood? What kind of feeling do you want your space to exude? Whatever creates the mood for you in your space, play with it intentionally, and remember this is the place you come to unplug, discharge, and unwind.

Hang spacious artwork

If you like art in your space, consider how sprawling open spaces may feed into your Valley Environment. Portraits of vistas or vast valleys can inspire thought and spaciousness inside you. You may want to hang a print of your favourite poem, or a particular quote you like. Consider how you may bring your Valley influence to the art on your walls — if any.

Open the windows from time-to-time

Every now and again, open the windows in your bedroom to let a fresh breeze through. Imagine the breeze sweeping out stagnant energy within your space. Consider hanging crystal cures, suncatchers, or disco balls in your windows to help move energy through your space.

Explore deeper feng shui

Feng Shui is a traditional Chinese practice focused on arranging a space to bring balance, harmony and auspicious luck. It intimately considers the energy flow within a space. I have noticed Valleys People are particularly sensitive to this energy flow within their Environment as they tend to plug in to this energetic current more intensely than other Environments. Valleys People are sensitive the movement in their spaces, and they thrive with strong sources of energy. Consider practicing flying star feng shui, or using the bagua energy map to become more aware of how to connect with and work with the energy in your space as it moves throughout the month. Check out Lillian Too’s work, creator of World of Feng Shui. She’s my favourite reference.

Try a low bed

If you’re able to move onto a low bed and do not have mobility concerns, consider sleeping closer to the floor, beginning your days grounded and close to the earth. Conversely, try a bed that is flat to the floor, rather than elevated.

Consider what you want to wake up to

Whether that’s a certain kind of person, a certain kind of lifestyle, or an alarm clock or soft music, consider this question through sound, sight, and deeper emotions like goals, values, and relationships.
