The Art of Observing and Not Absorbing: Feeling Deeply, Empathy, and Self-Respect
What if your sensitivity isn't something to fix — but something to understand?
In this solo InSight, I explore the relationship between observation, absorption, and awareness through the lens of Human Design, shamanic practice, and lived experience. Together we consider what it means to be deeply sensitive without losing ourselves… and how honouring our individual differences may be one of our greatest acts of self-respect.
About this conversation
One phrase kept appearing in my life:
"Observe, don't absorb."
While the advice is well-intentioned, I began questioning whether it's actually possible—or even desirable—for everyone.
Drawing from Human Design Variables, shamanic practice, parenting, and my own experience as someone who naturally absorbs the emotional atmosphere around me, this conversation explores sensitivity as an innate human capacity rather than a personal flaw.
Rather than teaching people how to become less sensitive, I wonder what happens when we better understand the unique ways our bodies experience the world—and develop practices that help us return to ourselves.
